This morning's view from my desk is winter at its best. Frosty leaves, dappled sunlight and pine trees softly singing in the wind. With snow and rain in this weekend’s forecast, it feels like the perfect time to embrace the season's comforts.
Here are some of my much-loved winter warmers for January…
𖦹 Hot milk and honey. A winter indulgence I’ll never tire of. A sprinkle of cinnamon, a generous spoonful of raw honey and frothy hot cows milk — simple, soothing and just a little luxurious.
𖦹 Perfect Days by Wim Wenders. Not a winter film as such, but its gentle rhythm and glimpses of Tokyo are a quiet escape on cold rainy days.
𖦹 In England, it’s a tradition to read ghost stories through winter, and this collection is as haunting as it is beautiful. Or, if you’d prefer to wander 18th-century London in search of a mermaid, The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock is a historical fiction delight.
